FAQ's

Do you provide free taster sessions?

No unless specifically requested for extenuating reasons. Why? Because we really feel a taster session does not allow children to relax and enjoy the session. It's daunting to be a small person coming into a new environment, with new people, and be expected to automatically 'get' what is happening. On average it takes a few weeks for children to settle in and really start to enjoy the classes. By then they know us as leaders, they know the format, and you'll really notice the difference in them. It's not us being tight, after doing this for 10 years our experience has really confirmed this is the best way to engage the children. However, we often run discounts and offers meaning you can book a first time course for a fraction of the price.

What age group is this suitable for?

We FIRMLY believe that children should be read to from birth, however, we feel that you would get the most from the classes from around 6 months onwards. We understand that on maternity money is tight and we want you to come and get the most out of your time with us as possible. This does not mean you can't book on with a younger baby, as you will be most welcome, we just want to be honest and make sure you go away from our classes feeling happy and excited for coming back the following week.

The classes are split into two age groups, 6 months to 18 months and mixed ages. The mixed age classes go up to the age of 5. Don't be daunted at the prospect of a mixed class if you have a baby, from experience the babies get SO much out of coming to a mixed class and learning from older children. The mixed class is also perfect for those of you with multiple children.

How are the classes charged?

Our classes are £6 per session paid upfront in terms of 5-8 weeks. We frequently offer discounts and money off for classes. The price is per FAMILY up to two children. No extra charges for siblings including twins. Hooray! And remember at least 50% of the profits form the classes are used to provide books to vulnerable children in Leicester, so you not only get a quality class, but you are helping others at the same time.

Do you offer refunds?

If you notify us within a full two weeks of the course starting we can offer you a full refund. Any later a partial refund will be offered at our discretion. If we can get the place filled by the time the course starts, we can offer you the remainder. We do our best to be as flexible as we can, however, the booking fee takes into account the room hire, equipment, staffing, insurance, training and business overheads.

How many are there in a class?

This varies from venue to venue due to space. We cap all our term time bookings at 18, meaning that on average we get 15 per class (as often there are people missing for various reasons) We do this as our classes are taught for the first half of the session, and smaller numbers mean increased attention and make for an enhanced learning environment.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are fully insured under the leading early years insurance company in the UK.

Are you a franchise?

No. Story Imagin-ory is a privately owned company who employ their staff directly. We are fully copy written, legally protected, and trademarked. Any enquiries of employment can be made through our Contact Us form.

What happens if I miss a class?

At our discretion catch up sessions will be offered if taken in the same week. This is subject to availability on other classes. We are all parents, we understand that things crop up such as illness or appointments. We will always work with you to try and offer a catch up session where possible, however this is not always guaranteed. Refunds cannot be given for missed classes.

Can you adjust the term booking because I'm going on holiday/working/have other plans

Sadly not. All of our term dates are detailed when booking. The course are paid for upfront in full. However we can offer catch up sessions at our discretion where possible.

Are you trained?

Yes. Highly. With extensive training and qualifications in teaching, speech and language, British Sign Language, Early Years Education, safeguarding, food hygiene, business, health and safety, risk assessment, first aid to name a few. Our team brings together wealth of experience and knowledge.
